Movie Capsules

Bel Ami
Watched 'Bel Ami' recently. Robert Pattinson has come a long way since 'Twilight'. He plays an overly ambitious man lacking in talent, who learns to manipulate the 'society ladies' in 19th century Paris to get what he wants: a life of leisure without an honest day's work. Although this movie makes you view the world even more cynically, the music and direction are superb.

Blow
'Blow' starring Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz traces the life and times of a marijuana dealer. Prison is an inevitable part of a drug dealer's life. In this case, prison serves as crime school, where Depp enters with a Bachelor's in marijuana and leaves with a Master's in cocaine:-).The highs and lows in his life(pun intended) change him forever. It's based on a true story.

Runaway Jury
Based on John Grisham's best-seller of the same name, this movie brought back memories of high school when I would devour his books. John Cusack, Gene Hackman, Rachel Weisz and Dustin Hoffman star in this film about jury selection, jury manipulation, purchase of verdicts and other unethical practices in the judicial system.

Wanderlust
"Wanderlust" starring Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd is SUCH a hopeless movie. I'm thoroughly convinced now that Aniston does not know how to pick a good script. Or maybe she is being offered only duds. Anyway, steer clear of this movie!

The Son of No One
Watched Ray Liotta, Channing Tatum and Al Pacino in 'The son of no one'. One more movie about police cover ups, blackmail, and the scant regard for human life. There's suspense, but not hard to guess at least a part of the story.
